What a terrific find! As you say, like new! Goes to show they're still around. Your next challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to find an even more vintage van (say early 50's) in the same condition

I agree :-) not cheap but nothing this good is ,all good so far going to plug the power in tomorrow and see if the fridge works then if that is ok will try the gas stove as well as the fridge on gas , this thing has never had a bottle on it EVER ? so hopefully it will work once I replace the batteries used to start both units .

keep an eye on it when you turn the fridge on , there could be dust or other crap in the back of the fridge that might get hot . although it looks that clean there probably is nothing back there that will cause any issues . what a great find , that looks fantastic . good luck . cheers kel.

Beautiful van Did you tow it home with the Zephyr? No not that game because of other commitments it was a snap decision and even quicker trip so took her indoors Honda CRV left here 5PM monday night drove straight through to Ourimbah a few hrs sleep and in to Sydney and down to Heathcote deal done and back on the road by 11AM home in Casino 8PM it tows great even at 100kmh getting too old for this s##t however Fuel consumption was great going down 8L/100km coming home 18-20L/100 but I was pushing it , I have hooked it up and had a run with the Z yesterday and if anything it feels better behind it being a heavier car just got to do some mods to the towbar as it is approx 2" too high and the bar is a ( my guess ) homemade one with a welded tongue , this will change this weekend when we make a new one with removable tongue . All going well we will tow it to Canungra next thursday with the Z

Thanks for the heads up Kel I will pull the back panel and check prior to starting the fridge , fingers crossed it will go I have never seen one like it ? it is a Astral by Morphy Richards and requires 2 D cells for start up , I am guessing it is pre piezo ign ?The stove is the same 2 D cells it is a Rinnai . There was ebven a page on caravan park etiquette how to set up when you get there and how to prepare to leave it is a full on time capsule .

if it has 2 elements ..one for 240v and a smaller one for 12 v . the 12 volts operation is not so good , it is a struggle for items in the fridge to cool , . 240 works much better , I had a similar van back in the day and was told not to run the fridge on Gas while it is being towed . Gas operation was also quite good when parked up . but van had to be parked level .

No only 1 element it is 2 way so 240v and Lpg only it will not go on 240v so today's job is to remove it and turn it on it's head for a couple of hours then back on it's feet and preheat the pipes and try again on 240v , then I have to somehow resurect the 2 D cell battery unit so I can run it on gas ? If it all gets too hard I will just replace it with a small bar fridge and try and utilise the door fittings of the old one on the new bar fridge so it looks period :-)
